The face behind Sunny Creek Clay

Hiiii lovely, I'm Kristin, the artisan behind the whimsical world of Sunny Creek Clay.

Crafting has always been my sanctuary - my way of expressing the colors and shapes that dance in my mind (and a way for me to relieve stress). It wasn't until I discovered polymer clay that my passion truly took flight.

There's something enchanting about polymer clay – its malleability, its vibrant hues, its endless potential. I spend hours lost in a world of imagination as I shape each piece into existence.

Every piece of jewelry is a story waiting to be told; whether it's a whimsical butterfly with handmade tiny flowers, or a funky furby that will help you relive your millennial goddess fantasy; I strive to put a piece of myself into each wearable work of art.

It's not just about the finished product for me though - it's about the journey of creation itself. I relish every moment spent mixing clay, creating unique and intricate details, and adding the final touches that bring my creations to life.

When I'm not in my studio, you'll find me spending time with my husband and 2 dogs trying to survive the NC heat (and cicada-geddon).

Together, let's explore a world where anything is possible, and where the magic of polymer clay knows no bounds.

What is Polymer Clay?

Polymer clay is a material that can only be described as the quirky artistic cousin of traditional modeling clay.

Ingredients: imagine tiny bits of plastic inviting color pigments and fillers to the most epic party of the century! It's crafted from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), plasticizers for flexibility, combined with pigments for a rainbow of colors.

Play-Doh who? when you work with polymer clay, it’s soft and pliable— similar to Play-Doh (though not as soft). You can shape it, twist it, and mold it any way you like!

Bake It!: But here’s the twist: Once you’ve created your masterpiece, pop it in a regular oven. Yes, you heard me right! Bake it, and it hardens permanently. No kilns needed!

By hardens, I also mean it becomes more plastic-like…don't ask me how. Science.

Not Your Grandma’s Clay: Unlike natural clay, polymer clay doesn’t come from the earth. It’s a synthetic product, but it’s got style. It’s used for jewelry, sculptures, and all kinds of artsy creations.

They may just fly away: despite Polymer clay being, well, clay...it's an incredibly lightweight medium to work with, and gentle on the most sensitive ears. Any designs that are heavy will have a disclaimer listed, but most styles are no more than 3-6 grams. Yes, really!
